Surprise Proposal in Arriba Beach, Guincho — Kiana & Justinas

As a destination wedding photographer, there's nothing quite as exhilarating as being part of a surprise proposal. Picture this: a breathtaking coastal setting, the gentle sound of crashing waves, and a moment filled with anticipation and love. In this blog post, I am thrilled to share the story of a surprise proposal at Arriba Beach, near Guincho in Portugal.

Picture this: Justinas e-mailed me wanting to know if I was available either a Saturday or a Sunday because he was going to propose to the love of his life, Kiana. They have been dating for a few years and they already talked a little about the marriage topic and he felt like the next step on their relationship was exactly that: to tie the knot. We scheduled a video call to meet (Justinas and I), and he wanted it to be a surprise, so not a planned a photoshoot where the proposal happens, more like, I just happen to be there vibbing.

I sent my Lisbon guide for him to study and help pick a place and Justinas told me Kiana really wanted a quiet place for the proposal, it was one of the things she had mentioned to him, so in that in mind, we narrowed our possible proposal places to: Arriba beach.

By now you already know it’s one of my fave beaches around this area because it’s a little secluded and you need know where you’re going, to come down to the beach. It’s the best sunset spot in the area and it’s very enjoyable. Unfortunately, an hour before our scheduled time to meet the weather tricked us and turned grey pretty fast, so we didn’t get to see the wonderful warm colors it usually has to offer.
