Intimate Wedding, Brunch in Topo Rooftop, Chiado — Rita da Nova & Guilherme Fonseca
It was during one of the afternoons when I was photographing the Creative Writing Workshop that Rita and Guilherme asked me to stay for a few more minutes to talk to them - little did I know what it could be. That's when they told me they were getting married, that it would be something small and non-traditional, and that they would like me to be their photographer for the day - and I said yes!
Their day was indeed very different from what I had photographed before.
An intimate brunch at Topo Chiado, with close friends and family, without much decoration or a DJ. They created a Spotify playlist together with the guests, which played throughout the morning and afternoon. Rita had her makeup done by the talented Raquel Batalha and wore a dress from Lanidor. The gifts for the guests were polaroids, the best keepsake, as photography is undoubtedly the most cherished memory! Rita and Guilherme only wanted me to document their day genuinely, without many posed or staged moments, and the day unfolded naturally.
It was a wedding that touched me deeply; I cried several times during the speeches, and it's a wedding that I hold close to my heart. You can read Rita's version with much more detail than I can provide here.
Rita will be releasing her first fiction book on February 15, 2023, titled "As Coisas Que Faltam" (The Things That Are Missing). You can read about it on Rita's blog and purchase it on Wook, Bertrand, and Fnac.
Rita also co-hosts a literary podcast called "Livra-te" with Joana da Silva, which you can follow on Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Podcasts.
Guilherme had his first book, "Deve Ser Deve," released in 2022 (available for purchase on Wook, Fnac, and Bertrand). It originated from the podcast with the same name, which you can listen to on Spotify. He also has his podcast called "Private Joke," which you can support on Patreon. You can also find him on the program "Pancada de Meia Noite."
Rita and Guilherme have a podcast together called "Terapia De Casal" (Couple's Therapy), which inspired a book of the same title. You can read about it on their blog and listen to it on Spotify and SoundCloud.
